I've seen quite a few of these folks and it usually stems from anger that artists they like are out of their price range. They take every slight mention of commission prices or any payment as a personal insult. They don't understand the process of art and appropriate compensation for time.
Sounds like some dumbass cheapskate that wants to guilt you into lowering your prices tbh
Also who tf is managing to get enough food for those prices??? Even shopping cheap frozen stuff costs $50-100 a /week/ unless you're starving yourself :|
Sorry was lurkin' your page just now saw this, and its because this guy isn't equating in all the factors, he's assuming art is a 9-5 baseline schedule, that you are getting steady regular work in a normal 9-5 frame, spending 4 hours on a piece, thus 100 dollars a day which is $12.50/hr
which let's pretend I'm brain dead enough to assume an artist does steady work without any gaps in their workload, that's still bullshit pay. $65 would be the minimum price to feel sustainable for that fantasy world, but we don't live in straight up 9-5 commissions for artist now. So my point is
people fail to equate in the lulls inbetween, the skill that you built up to to get to this point, and the cost of the equipment, all they are seeing is share 9-5 working, not all the other aspects that go into deciding a price, so my point is, your prices are more then fair and valid.
just figured I'd show how in idiot comes up with their argument of $50 for a commission because they think in the capitalistic binary that things are a steady 9-5 fantasy.
Do you think they're lying about their age no adult would agree that 50-100 dollars of food is good, I'm united statian if you couldn't tell by my ocs being on the plump side
For the record, $50/month comes out to 55 cents/meal, which is less than half the budget for an average school lunch, who have the benefit of buying in bulk.
I find hard to believe that any adult could have the audacity to tell that you can eat your whole month with less and 100 bucks. No even in highly productive agricultural sites.
Cause you end needed oil, gas, water that elevate the cost of food.
Considering looking at past replies on their account, the vibe is young, and even though not understanding what FTM stands for doesn't tell their age, I'm surprised someone who's *29* wouldn't know, and then "critique" how much an artist shouldn't charge high prices for commissions.
$100 for an entire *month* sounds absurd to me unless you were like.... Really rationing to get by, idk
But love how they're assuming you have like. Absolutely no other expenses. As if food was literally the only thing money was for, as opposed to Anything Else A Human Needs
you'd be surprised by how many grown ass men can be this childish, i think they're just not smart enough to understand grocery prices are in fact not same across the world
Definitely kid vibes in my opinion. Some adults are just idiots like this, but the sentence structure sorta reminds me of how I used to talk on the internet when I was a tween
a hundred dollars is barely even a weekly paycheck for most jobs Why does this seem so unreasonable to them
i'm assuming theyre either lying abt their age and/or have no sense of money
the classic when you don't have good arguments and then hide behind others instead of speaking for yourself c: But yes, everything is okay with me, I don't have to beg for money on Patreon,

the advanced menu labeled "bluesky moderation service"? yeah I had those all set to show as well. the only things it could be hiding it for are "sensitive content" which is described as mental health shit so that can't be it.
I don't think so because they've only had normal interactions with me before but like, bro was replaced with an alternate dimensional counterpart today
This dude's being a prick, saying you're hungry is not a call you need money and if you DID need money then cutting your prices that extremely is not the immrdiate play lol
From the profile I think the person is living in Germany? Their prices must be better there but it would also explain the lack of understanding on American grocery prices this person clearly has (not to even validate their nonsensical ramblings).
Charge as much as you need to! In my area, with a stable 40 hour a week job, you need to be making like $35+/hour to be "comfortable" (i.e. rent + car + not having to worry about if you can afford to buy that game on Steam), and I assume commission income is less stable, so should charge more.
People who are incredible butthurt about pricing tend to be abusive and not worth your time, full stop. Weirdly, people might and do avoid artists if they charge too low.
I'm say this was one who's been in various fandoms for 25+ years.
100-200 bucks on groceries??? MF gotta be anemic or one of those blonde cheerleaders you see in movies throwing up a cherrios cause it might "go to their waist"

Do people think you can just draw as fast as you want?
Do people think the years you spent honing your craft don't deserve compensation?
Do people think food is the only expense that exists?
It feels so disconnected from reality.
and charge more. :)
bwuhhh???

He's talking about survival, not living. And he's got an obnoxious chip on his shoulder about it.

What are they buying, Bulk packages of Ramen at Costco or something?
Where is my guy shopping to feed himself for a month on 50-100 bucks? 2 HOURS?? WHAT? Do they own a fucking time machine??
