All elections everywhere are now about US national politics. While I cheer these particular swings, it's a terrible trend for democracy.

I can't think of another example of an American president having such a dramatic and quick effect on the electoral prospects of parties outside the US. Along with the Canadian elections, this is a pretty stunning effect
