IME it’s always been pretty awful, but it’s certainly plumbing new depths these days. Salutary reminder of the digital footprint we all leave and how it gets monetised.
It's hilarious that they think of social media posts as just generic "content" to such an extent that they've forgotten that the point of social media is to connect people
They are connecting people.. to the algorithm. Human connection was never the point. Billions of eyes are trained on a screen for hours every single day. Newspaper, radio, television, personal computer.. it was always just a convenient way to grab your attention and make a buck.
The majority of users on their big platforms are consumers. The creators are therefore a bottleneck and the ones that kick up a fuss and demand things. Eliminate them and improve efficiency and engagement on your platform. Profit.
If this were true, though, you'd not expect to see their userbase declining.
I could accept an explanation, perhaps, of "the most reliable mDAUs are the ones who are willing to consume AI plops and interact with AI characters", but I doubt those people constitute "the majority" of consumers.

Tho then again the popularity of AI generated nonsense with older people does worry me that they might be onto something here
In terms of numbers the majority are fairly undiscerning consumers.
It may not suit everyone or work long term but what they’re tying to build is new old media
