I was raised in a Methodist church. I am agnostic. I found absolutely nothing in that sermon incorrect. I have never disagreed with Jesus, it is the supernatural part that I can't accept.

THIS is what Jesus was all about. I'm a former Catholic turned agnostic. I don't buy into the religion, but Jesus had a lot of great things to say about how we should all treat each other.

I often wonder if deconstructing saved me from being led down the hate filled political path that so many others in the church are on now? 40 years = my own true North & my own belief system. It's now a mixture of the Beatitudes & the ancient pagan ways..the gifts of knowledge that were given to me.

Words like hers transcend religion. Her words represent a moral code that should be universal law. The amount of non-religious people in agreement with her is more proof that morality and religion have nothing to do with each other.

I love how you put this. I deconstructed 40 years ago..which is really a work still in progress. It is a higher heart that speaks of compassion, empathy, equality, & love. (tho it IS what Jesus taught)

While I'm agnostic now I was lucky and the church I attended as a child had a pastor who was a wonderful woman like her who spoke about empathy and kindness and the things christians were supposed to be. It wasn't until she left and a new man came in that I realized how it could all be twisted

To a point. At the point where "differences" become only some people are allowed to exist it time to tell them "their beliefs are crap" and we aren't going to tolerate their beliefs in the public arena. (My neighbor with the Christian Nationalist flag can go to hell.)
