Both these things can be true:
1. People sometimes vote against their own interests, and are bigots. Those things are bad.

It’s the reporter who implied that people are driving two hours out of their way. If you live an hour away from anything, and you have to go to an appointment in town, are you not going to pick up bread from the bakery you like? That’s all that’s happening here.

my back of the envelope math says that this trip would take roughly four and a half gallons at an average of $2.79 a gallon for Nebraska, meaning you'd need to buy 7 loaves to break even, under the assumption that spending two hours of your time had no value to you
