We should have a system set up sort of like a backup Quarterback. They come in and work beside them and learning. Ready to step in. Maybe knowing that someone with some knowledge is ready to run would encourage the older to leave.
The Democratic Party needs to let the next generation of leaders step up. We need news ideas and young people with the integrity and drive to reverse the horrors trump is promising.
I'm okay with it. Term limits are important, and if they're not going to create them, then yes, challenge leadership. Let's get some fresh blood in those positions.
If you can't go 80hrs a week and travel back to your home state to meet with your people and campaign, then get the hell outta the way. Your pride is killing us now move over.
As an elected official far down the ticket, my goal over the last two years has been to get younger people elected and in place. We all have an expiration date undetermined.
I know Dumpy kind of just proved me wrong, but I think both parties need to turn over some of the "more senior" members.
How many more elections can will be based on boomer votes?
I don’t support any democrat that got on the “step down, Joe.” train. They got us here with their STUPID idea to elect a pres in 90 days. How about that!
I hated how they did that. It was embarrassing and unfair to everyone. We need everyone in their late 60- 70's to move along. Unless it's Warren and sanders. They can stay.
Slightly OT, But Wasn't it about 6 months that Nadler and the J6 committee sat on their findings, letting them age for 'reasons' before they finally passed them along to the relevant agencies?
Seems important in retrospect.
WTF?? WTF?? WTF?? The USA GOVT is NOT defending the Democracy of our OWN COUNTRY? We The People have been taxed (to death in some cases) to protect countless countries worldwide for decades, spent many many Billions, and built the most powerful Military on earth. So they're just going to SURRENDER??
This is a good thing. The elders need to move aside at some point. We couldn't do better than Jamie Raskin. He is a true defender, brilliant, dedicated....we are lucky to have him in this role. I don't understand how you see this as surrender.
I like Jamie Raskin and congratulate the move - I'm disappointed in all of the current Dem Leadership - conceeding to a psychotic facist dictator without one word to their supporters - we were sold out to a treasonous criminal organization - I believe the US just had it's last election for decades
FYI - too many younger eligible voters did NOT even care enough to vote for issues concerning their futures - I'm not wasting time on hope and optimism - Trump's Shitstorm is going to affect the world - many people will not survive it - there's no way to sugar coat that reality
Here's hoping the party of "hope" can build a well armored organized and efficient vehicle. Don't think a Prius will get us where we need to go right now. :)
We need to shake things up with fresh voices. There are so many talented people ready to stand up and speak out against the harmful policies of this new administration.
Any thoughts comments on how the F this election turned out the way it did? Blaming Dems campaign message had NOTHIG to do with the election results. We were inundated with fake news and disinformation thanks to Zuckerberg and Musk. If we don't do something about this NOW, it's over.
But the Senate MUST also get new leadership. Especially at the top. The new Minority Leader has to be in the next generation of Democratic leadership. It’s time to accept this fact. Old leadership lost the Presidency to a CONVICTED FELON.
It’s time to move forward.
To turn the page of history.
Like Washington or Biden it takes a level of integrity and patriotism to step down not seen on the right. Remember preReagan when integrity, honor and patriotism was common in the GOP?
Committee leadership should be one, maybe two, terms at most. Voters can decide if they want a representative in Congress for however long they want, but since voters play no role in divvying up committee assignments, they need statutory limits.
We’re not working with republicans anymore. The gop was overtaken by MAGAts. It’s a brand new game. This new game is about destroying democracy. Putin is at the table, folks.
Jerry is my age, and I am in much better shape than Jerry, yet I'd be hard pressed to serve in that position - it can be a grind. So best to step down now and turn over the reins to Raskin. Heard stories about Jerry - used to be besties with my bro in law. He's a good guy!
This is a change for the better and an acknowledgment that times they are a' changin. Feel Raskin will make an excellent replacement, and would note we need many more like him.
We need more than lots o‘movement,we need to grow a spine-place judges into office, grant immunity protection(s) in place for the possibility of tRUMP/MUSKRAT’s agenda for retaliation,& destruction of”we the people”🙏🏻💦protect trustworthy servants like AOC,Raskin,Schiff, etc🙋🏼♀️💦MEIDASTOUCH we need you🙏🏻💙🇺🇸
Key objectives needed for democrats (and the country).
1. Pass voting rights
2. End citizens united
3. Eliminate lobbyists
4. Strengthen regulations on the press - require that they actually do reporting. If they call themselves “News” there actually has to some.
Well, when you fuck up this catastrophically, I should hope it's a wakeup call. The whole party needs to be purged and replaced with competent leadership.
The last generation has had a very difficult time letting go of power. It is time for fresh faces and new ideas. Hopefully we can find new common ground and set aside so many grudges.
The fight for freedoms ahead is going to take a lot of energy.
Hakeem Jeffries is the minority leader in the house. We need more women in leadership roles. I'm not the biggest fan of Nancy Pelosi but she did get things done and was very strategic in how she did things.
The spine part would be essential. Schumer isn't very strategic. They need to play the long game and step aside before they are publicly embarrassed by the party like Joe Biden was.
No offense to a longtime public servant but this should have been done some time ago. Our judicial hearing and impeachment process suffered since 2017. We need our A team.
If I remember correctly, Rep. Nadler's wife was very ill during at least one key process. He should have stepped aside and let others lead. No matter the circumstances, he was not able to do the job properly at the time.
If I may digress America is getting fleeced by Elon musk white nationalist South African born billionaire Money can’t buy you love people .who the hell is this guy telling America what they should do stand up against this wretched billionaire god sakes💪
It looks like some restructuring going on in the party 🤔. I think it's a good idea, even though I think some hinky things went on in this election that are not yet known 🧐.
Jamie Raskin needs to be in a leadership position. As does all the other young Dems in the house that actually know how to fight in the current media landscape. Ppl like Jasmine Crockett, AOC, Ted Lieu, etc.
I mean, greasy Chucky in the Senate and Hakeem in the house are solidly establishment Dems. Until THAT leadership is replaced, the Dems are going to be shit and spineless until then.
It's not like they've actually accomplished anything impactful for many people since Obama.
Let’s face it -Its not that they’re clueless.
If Congress had to work as hard as regular Americans have to work -then politicians would be retiring when they’re 65-70 like regular Americans would like to do.
But if we all had a job like they have -we’d stay in that M-Fer until our last breath too.
Just my opinion - but Speaker Pelosi was singularly responsible for keeping progressive dems away from power positions.
I say she’s a “pro-choice republican” for that reason.
Let’s hope that Raskin’s upward trajectory is just the beginning.
Do you hear yourself. You want the President to be able to be older than any sitting member in Congress? Make it 75 for each branch. Legislative, judicial and executive
Jerrold Nadler should have retired a decade ago. A shrunken man whose remaining shtick is going on camera to read slowly from index cards in a monotone.
Corey Lewandowski’s boot prints are still all over his face.
If they're not ready to throw down to defend the Constitution, then, their resolve and will are lacking. Because the Republicans do not care for Constitutionalism.
Hope so. He did give a good DNC speech but Dems need a loud, vocal & well-constructed battering ram against GOP disinfo tower they've been building for years s/a little boy fascists & their podcasts. Educating the rest about civics, economics, & Dem policies actually helping them is a challenge.
Glad Nadler is stepping down and I think raskin is Great but I also think we need a younger candidate who is a stronger fighter. Hakeem, AOC or Katie Porter would be better choices
IMHO, @raskin.house.gov has the energy, backbone, nuance of thought, and legal street cred for leadership in the matters of the Judiciary, just as @aoc.bsky.social has the passion for principle, energy, backbone, and critical eye for leadership in matters of Oversight.
Hey real quick. In your new episode of the NA. You and Tim O’Brien made a comment that Black people went for Trump. Where is that data? There is no voting bloc that voted at a higher rate for any candidate than Black people for VP Harris. Why spread this lie? The majority of white voters voted Trump
Great to see! Jamie Raskin has been a steady, brilliant voice for decency and justice. Hoping he can help strike a meaningful balance to all the craziness.
Nadler has been good but we need a cane corso now and that he is not. Raskin is a fighter and he will need to be. Thank you, Rep Nadler for you hard work and dedication in this position. Rep Raskin, you have our support.
Senator Booker voted against Americans having the right to get less expensive prescription drugs - maybe because he’s taken so much money from big pharma?
As a person he seems great - but as a democrat- - - - He’s not always on our side.
Think of them as transitional.
The people they’d replace have been there so long - that our younger politicians haven’t had a chance to be “trained” on those positions. We have a lot of talent - but getting the 70 and 80 year olds to retire has held everyone back.
Comments
Of course that is what Harris campaign was about.
How many more elections can will be based on boomer votes?
This is how it’s done!
Seems important in retrospect.
Stop Illegal Alien Hunters!

You can make all the "demands" you want, but when the other side has the majority, they can ignore your demands.
But one of the things that will be very hard to change is doing anything in Congress without a majority of votes
It’s time to move forward.
To turn the page of history.
He will be a strong leader, someone who is willing to take on the Nazis.
GTFO
1. Pass voting rights

Time for a different generation as Senate Minority Leader in 2025.
The fight for freedoms ahead is going to take a lot of energy.
People willing to slay the dragon of the GOP.
It's not like they've actually accomplished anything impactful for many people since Obama.
2. He's been in Democratic leadership positions since 2018.
3. He's been the Dem leader in the House since 2022.
4. He votes like a typical corpo, pro-billionaire establishment Dem.
He sucks as a party leader.
Hakeem Jefferies is part of the old guard leadership that sucks, and is part of why we're in the crappy situation we are.
If Congress had to work as hard as regular Americans have to work -then politicians would be retiring when they’re 65-70 like regular Americans would like to do.

I'm watching CNN until the cowards let us reply when Joe calls us stupid
Corey Lewandowski’s boot prints are still all over his face.
why bother?
