I was an NIH funded investigator most of my career. I don’t think most people understand what this will do to our country. Most universities get part of those grants and use the money for grad programs. Many people will lose their jobs and basic biomedical research will suffer bigly. So sad

Anecdotal. It seems to me news has only gotten more informative in the past 34 years. Some ofc is negative, i.e. the 24-hr news cycle often results in redundant/irrelevant punditry. Without paychecks, we will be forced to leave the field. SOON! I love the work, but I gotta pay bills. I don't want to do science for corporations (even if the pay is better.) And once you leave science, your skill set ages so rapidly... It will be hard to get back in. A wave of scientists...gone.
