If you had told me years ago I could pay $9 to save an hour and a half getting into and out of Manhattan, I would have done it in a heartbeat. I am only upset it took this long!

It should be noted that commuters will pay an extra $2,300 dollars a year to work. Those taking public transit will around $4,000 dollars a year. All while paying 4.3 billion in taxes just from New Jersey residents along. Hurting the middle class the most.

Check your math. Average daily train commute from northern NJ is 8-12 bucks per day. At 250 work days that's $2,000 to $3,000 per year. Also I suspect you're not including parking costs, tolls, gas and car depreciation for car commuting. Lost time and productivity stuck in traffic adds even more.

I know two Manhattan residents that say it's a game changer. I've also heard emergency response times in the zone have dropped markedly. Good news of your having a heart attack or your kitchen is on fire.

My dream is still a by-pass tunnel to get off Long Island & to NJ, or you know “the mainland” But I’d wish they’d tailor the zone to make the tunnels accessible for through traffic. Tolls can cost over $40 to get from Bklyn to NJ before this toll. Not like I WANT to cross Manhattan. It’s in the way!

Oh course. It’s not unreasonable to raise the price on something that is scarce, namely packed and crowded city streets.

The best way to make people think about their choices is to put a higher cost on the choices that hurt or impact others.

There’s a reason NYC loves it.

Inside the zone it has made a real difference. Far less car traffic, and less noise to boot. I don't think many people realize how noisy the City can be and the bad impact that can have on the people who live and work there. Anything to reduce noise, traffic, and pollution is a win.
