To be serious, I do think it's important to understand that very few of the National Guard wants to be there or do this bullshit. They want to fly A10s and do war stuff. If they wanted to beat up brown people they'd have become a cop.

Two of my good friends served in the Navy (one 5y contract on a sub, but one a whole ~30y career on large ships), and they would be absolutely crushed if they had to fight people they were supposed to defend.

To be fair, this isn't too far off what a well-planned an executed operation would look like. These Soldiers should all have field gear already issued, and likely aren't using it because this isn't the time to break out the "snivel gear"

This looks like "standby for orders" posture, where they're all ready to get up and move once orders come down. If they were resting for the night, they would have removed boots and blouses at least.
