As it turns out, dumb rich guys that have never had to work an actual job don’t tend to have a realistic view of how many people it takes to run agencies that serve 1/3 of a billion people.
I've only ever had low level local government jobs and could still have 100s of emails to get through (plus all my other tasks). A random mass email takes a while to get to due to being so busy and working so hard you don't have time to casually browse your inbox. I doubt Musk's ever had that issue.
My dad was a naval commander, which is not a government job you immediately think of as administrative, and he had thousands of emails in his inbox every day.
In one job we were asked to document what we did each day for a week in 30 minute blocks because a consultant thought it was a good way to review productivity. The office ground to a halt because of that bullshit.
It’s actually really hard for dead people to do anything in this country and there are several mechanisms in place that ensure this, but all Sideshow Bob had to do was copy names down from the cemetery so I fully believe Elon thinks that’s what’s happening.
Just looking at the events of the last few weeks, I can think of several very good reasons not to check my emails if I worked at a company or government agency that was answerable to Musk in some way
