They need to go further left not further right. They would disagree with me, but they lost the trust of the people by not changing anything about our voting systems after they had promised to completely reform it. It's only gone down from there. We need policy for Canadians not USA friendly BS.

They can do both. They have their own consultants and strategists. Journalists should stay out of it and stop telling people what to do and think. Give us the news, let us form our own opinions. This is how you get radicalized cults like MAGA. Report, don't influence.

Disagree. It's the supposed neutral both-sides-reporting that's gotten us in such a mess. Little reporting is strictly neutral anyway, and will always influence someone. As for MAGA, it's more complicated than that. Besides, this is an OPINION piece and one that makes an excellent series of points.

No, it's actually not. There wasn't such division when they reported the news without endless legal analysis and strategy and hours of experts. What we're suffering from is information and opinion overload. But since the introduction of technology, people's brains have gotten too lazy to think.

I'm old enough to remember when the news was broadcast on just a couple of TV channels, at 6pm and then at 11, with everyone basically getting the same info. Definitely much easier then (with less chance of misinfo), and yes, too many of our 🧠s have gotten a bit mushy. Agree with you on that point!

I was so frustrated when they ignored actual events happening in Congress and the White House to give hours of legal analysis about Trump's crimes. They're still doing it. Give us news. They're completely disconnected with anything outside of Washington and Wall Street.

Definitely. That's what I kinda meant too with that bit about reporting not being strictly neutral - what events and people are covered and NOT covered by the media is a subjective choice in itself, and colours the information we receive right from the get-go.

I think they should focus on Pierre's religious like free market worship and how it puts our sovereignty at further risk. I'm not sure argument that he is Trump will sell very well.

The shift towards the usa being a threat will change how voters think though, all of PP's slogans are outdated now.

Exactly. Conservative premiers are already working on it. The redirect the federal healthcare subsidies and tell their constituents that the system is broken and they need to privatize.

This isn't a zero-sum game. Canada can be united standing up to Trump regardless of politics. This is NOT a two-party system. The role of Liberals is not to blindly oppose every position the Cons hold. Just look at what that has done to the USA! The worst thing we can do is start eating each other.
