This may be the funniest and yet simultaneously the saddest attempt at historical revisionism I have ever seen. And the way the section snippets fall out is just...π¨βπ³π

The change to droplets was coordinated across the US orbit in March 2020, as was clear from the recent UK Covid Inquiry.

That's like declaring you've invented a new category which is a mixture of a carcinogen and something else, calling it a "semi-carcinogen" and claiming that means it's only dangerous for a half day in the afternoons.

"Um, like...duuude. That thing we were totally wrong about? Yeah, the "enormous number of lives" thing. That one. Yeaaaahhh. So, I have a really cool idea for a new word, and it, like, totally doesn't mean *anything*. So then it's like, ambiguous, right?" ππ
- travel <1m but also all the numbers that are >1m
- wait 15 minutes to go around a surgical mask (or N95, because who can tell the difference, really π€·)
- then you suddenly need a PAPR
- are all possible sizes
- include big particles that make the small ones stop being aerosols

People are literally dying because πthis is how IPC does thingsπ.
(also H/T @barryhunt008.bsky.social BTW - he DM'ed me the paper but I wasn't sure if he was OK being tagged)
I'm glad you shared it, that's why I sent it

This is probably my favourite IPC paper of the pandemic. It just wraps up everything everyone's been saying over the last five years and puts a bow on it.
My partner just asked "Do they realize that intelligent people are making fun of them now?"
Catching aerosols in ziplock bags was embarrassing too. Something that would be a funny story if a summer student would attempt it. But they published it in the "whole seriousness"
No surprise though, given that CMA is still mired in Droplet Dogma, unable to address airborne transmission, nor advocate for masking or cleaner IAQ:

The past is coming back to bite a lot of people in high places in IPC, and these do not seem to be people selected for the ability to admit when they screwed up.

Obviously it would be totally inappropriate for this to be rolled into policy or guidance - so...keep an eye out...
