I dunno why Elric's "I'm happy to drown" stuck with me so much. I can try to guess.
It's such a soft but definitive statement. It doesn't fit the dark fantasy sword and sorcery of the rest of the story. Just a man wanting to Stop, but Destiny has other plans.
