Could really throw a grenade by pointing out that while jus soli citizenship (i.e. becoming a citizen by being born geographically in the united states) is 14A-protected, jus sanguinis (citizenship derived by parenthood) that they think is much more important, is only by statute

Also, my great grandfather finally tried to become a citizen after being in the country for 26 years, but he was denied after WW2 began.

Hmm, if we could be relieved of the rest of them, I’d be okay with that actually.
Second of all, if jus sanguinis citizenship is governed by statute, that means it can't be overturned by an executive order. They need to try to change the law.
None of that matters if a corrupt SCOTUS reinterprets everything. Seems unlikely, but you never know these days.
