I recommend Star Ocean: Til the End of Time, and Star Ocean: The Last Hope. The first offers a story that gets badass, both are fairly similar games. They don't offer NG+, but their postgame is basically that. Sea of Stars offers NG+ and I recommend that big time, as well as Dragon Quest 12.

I also recommend the Ys series but maybe start with number 7 or 8. The combat and overall gameplay in these is fantastic.

Sadly I rarely feel the motivation to replay a game straight away. I really wanted to do it with Starfield as it does some really cool stuff with New Game + but even that wasn't enough to motivate me to do it

There's only been a few I've replayed in the same year

I try to play more games and replay less, but Witcher 3, Persona 5, Baldurs Gate 3, and FFX, and FFVII Rebirth are constantly calling to me

I know the feeling but whenever I give in to the feeling after a couple of hours I've given up. I had to replay Metaphor in New Game+ for the full achievements and as much as I loved the game I just wasn't feeling it at all.

I love Vagrant Story, I really do, but the NG+ mode is not good. It does have some cool stuff in it, but it also has a bunch of palette-swapped boss fights, a really hard to navigate dungeon, and you still have to get most of the way through the game again just to access most of the new stuff.

And boy is that a slog itself, the lack of challenge meaning you kill everything in one shot, which only highlights how slow everything in this game is. Love the game, want everyone to play it, but that New Game+ mode is just plain not good. I'd only ever recommend people do it once and move on.

Tbh, I feel many would drop Bravely Default due to how many times you have to replay the game to beat it. I was patient enough to finish it and enjoyed that final battle.

You have to repeat chapters 5-6 about 5 times iirc and at that point you can choose to skip the side quests, can fast travel around and have things like dungeon shortcuts unlocked.
