I kind of don't want that to happen. Sometimes, scrolling Twitter is like watching trash tv in that you can sometimes find a funny bunch of madness.
Sure, it's all a bunch of crazies, but we get the luxury of simply watching the madness.
The unfortunate reality of it is that Twitter is very likely not to "die" for a long time. It'll just slowly fade into obscurity and decrease in relevance over time.
Just like Facebook did, and myspace did before it. Neither of those sites are "big" platforms anymore, but they're still used
I personally have a feeling that if Harris wins *touch wood* Elon will have a mini meltdown realize his cunning plan hasn't worked and look to dump it/offload it pronto.

I'm afraid that once Twitter finally collapses, all of the users will migrate here, which is good because more people here, but it also brings all the negative aspects of the twitter user base (mostly the toxicity) and I don't want BS to become another cesspool of negativity.
We have the tools to mass block them though. Even more-so, the only reason we were ever even seeing all them so much on Twitter was because Elon’s algorithm and blue check system was pushing them in our faces whether we wanted to see them or not.

I was just talking about how all the “controversy” over “woke games” this last year can be 1000% attributed to Elon’s blue check bitches getting amplified in the algo and replies so it becomes a thing everyone sees and thus talks about despite being a massive minority.
It's already on boiling point in Spain, with what can be the worst hate campaign ever using the biggest natural catastrophe in years... hundreds of profiles from India w/o even changing names or bios saying the same far-right stuff to everyone.
There seems to be a rise of rightwing accounts with numbers in their names tweeting about very specific relevant things. Either they're bots, or some poor soul getting paid 50 cents an hour to tweet about trump all day.
Its already happened, everytime I open X, my feed is spammed with posts from Elon, don’t follow him. Never have followed him. He’s still hijacked my feed. Absolutely unusable at this point.
As much as I also want Twitter to fall, the many horrendous specimens that made Twitter as is might end up jumping over here, and soiling BlueSky. Can't have *those* people corrupting this place.
I found some twitter individuals are already trying to (unsuccessfully) weaponise blocklists. Usually with inflammatory accusations attached just because they had mild beef with a person
the difference here is, however, that there are actual moderators who ban fascists and there are many integrated blocklists which severely hamper the engagement for any shitass bigots here too.
Not to mention that unlike the bird site, this site doesn't feed off hate bait engagement and doesn't reward bait, so these people will always prefer elsewhere and say this app is for "echo chamber snowflakes"
People say this, but it's so much easier on here to just block out these people. The crypto bros, scammers, and "own the libs" weirdos are already here too, there's massive block lists for them. It's just easy to not have to see them because of how this site works. I think we'll be fine.
I don't think something like Twitter will ever truly die but I feel if it keeps on the path its on it gonna just slowly bleed out and will be a shadow of its former self kinda like Facebook
Just left Twitter the other day as it was becoming more and more unbearable. I prefer Bluesky over anything else but it needs a larger user base and as such I have also decided to try out Threads.
I hope it doesn’t; all the Nazis, bots and terrible people are quarantined there. If it goes belly up, won’t they migrate and infest other healthy spaces?
Once the big companies start doing reveals here (Nintendo Dropping XCXDE News) or anywhere else besides Twitter then it will be over, but for now it feels like a new Tumblr for now jaja.

To be honest, I'm not sure if it'll ever -implode- exactly so much as just become another Truth Social, if it hasn't already. One might (fairly) call that picking nits, but I'm just saying.
I kina want x to remain tho, but become just a fascy bubble world no reasonable person uses which costs a lot to keep up and no advertisers want. Just... like... make it a concentrated dot of pain for a few years.
