I love how they think that’s a flex, like they’re trying to shame all those other groups into joining them, instead of maybe thinking for like a minute about what that actually says about them?
Last I saw, ADL is trying to have it both ways: endorsing the general go-after-anti-Israel students idea but not this particular act. But I could be wrong.
It sucks that they're being deported regardless. It certainly doesn't seem like Trump or Netanyahu want Palestinians in Gaza. If they did, they have a funny way of showing it.
The thing is that by far most Israelis and Americans think expelling all Gazans from Gaza is batsh*t insane (as well as evil); associating that bizarre plan with whole countries seemed a bit much to me.
Opposing Israeli actions = supporting Palestinian actions = supporting Hamas = being a terrorist in spirit.
No half-measures for those types: if you think a Ben-Gvir statement is bad on optics and policy means your only issue with 10/7 is Hamas should have gone further.
Reminds me of the "we have to fire all these employees for having trans sex dungeon group chats and being anti-Italian and anti-Semetic" when their examples are "here is a Jewish person wishing to kick Ben Shapiro out of the faith" (the same Shapiro who said this.)
William Barr used similar logic in 2019 (FedSoc speech) accusing Senate Ds of illegitimate opposition to “duly elected government” (as if legislators aren’t duly elected members of government)

If anyone thinks I meant that they should: er, no. That’s why I called Betar’s statement awful.
In any case, the student who was seized is Syrian.

We panicked over a bunch of TikTok-addled teenagers while fascists took over our country.
