So many of my friends haven't even made it to the end of Act 2. They just keep starting new games and never actually finishing the game and yet I CAN'T TALK ABOUT SPOILERS AAAGGHH 😭
then do what i occasionally resort to: cheat!! i wouldn’t play it at all without mods, but on top of that it really helps if you’ve played a crpg before (or like, Dragon Age if you pick it up on consoles)
Easily one of the best games ever made, but did feel a little imbalanced in terms of length of each act. First two acts felt really long but then kinda dropped off
act 2 was weird because everything kept pointing toward moonrise so i put that off, then i got to the bottom of the shar temple and it was like "hey cutoff point starts here" so i had to furiously backtrack. minor pacing issues in a true feat of game design, though. love it!
it's just very expansive! lots of stuff going on, lots of stuff to do, lots of neat and unique things to interact with. lots of work and love poured into this game by the people making it
it's nice purely to have as a character creator, yeah!! i gotta say, act 2 really goes to some interesting places lorewise!! the Big Plot Reveal at the end is absolutely nuts
Honestly, even after 60 hours in my main save I’m still not done, and I keep learning there’s stuff that I missed??? It’s insane, the script has to be like 15k pages long
i added a mod that always turns on Speak To Animals, and i'm amazed at how every dang critter in the game has *voice acted* stuff to say. and it's almost always helpful or at least interesting stuff!!
Partner and I are doing a co-op now and they are showing me a bunch of stuff I missed or did t pay attention to during my playthrough. They have done a hero run and a redemption surge run. I think they also have started yet another run.
it took me about a year to get both the software and my pc hardware to a point where i could play smoothly and consistently. god darned pig-dog CEOs forcing things out of dev hands before they're finished, just another bleed caused by late stage capitalism
It's bullshit. It needs to be illegal or force a maximum price. You put out a 50% completed game, no more than $20 charge. Force these bastards to actually complete their game.
I'm currently in act 2, probably pretty far though.
I fucked up some decisions pretty bad and even though I'm save scumming I feel like I gotta commit to some consequences
Legit my favorite game I’ve ever played. So many people have gripes about certain things, and the only thing I think would make me happier is a mini-game like gwent
i admit i'm playing with a ton of mods, and have loaded myself up with points of inspiration just in case i ever feel like it's *really* important or *really* unfair lol
finished my first playthrough earlier this month, final time came out to 140 hours I think? Deff want to do another playthrough because I think I missed a lot of stuff but yeesh
it's definitely built for multiple playthroughs, lots of winding paths through the story and characters. plus you get to do a whole different playstyle!
I started and never finished 😭 I know it’s a great game but I think life got in the way… that and I couldn’t decide who to date😅 Any advice for beginners to the game? I’m at the very beginning, around goblin camp i think😅
that goblin camp is enormous! my advice is to try avoiding combat as much as possible, since there's just So Many dudes there. fortunately there's lots of ways to sneak in and out, don't be afraid to explore!
also there's a mod that gives you free permanent Speak To Animals, install that :3
it's wild, every class feels like a different game, every romance, every plot choice leads to wildly different outcomes. absolutely bonkers they were able to make this game!
All the praise is well-earned. They didn’t have to go half as hard as they did. I knew it was special when all the animals had different voice performances even though you can clear the game without talking to any of them.
i actually installed a mod that gives you permanent Speak With Animals and i strongly recommend trying it out. i’m amazed not just that they’re all fully written and voiced, but they all have gameplay-relevant things to say! it’s almost always worth it to cast the spell!
Absolutely. Haven’t messed with mods that much cuz I’m still trophy hunting and I’m on console, but I do value the spell immensely. Adds so much to the world.
i just barely hit act 3 with 110 hours played and the twists that the game has thrown in my face have me feeling like it’s the most well written story i’ve ingested in a decade
this sounds cool!! I’m consistently blown away that larian creates so many excellent roleplay and character development opportunities in a single player game like this
My partner has become obsessed with Tav fanfics. They love how much people love their Tavs and how they spin stories out of the core game… like having someone have to deal with Shovel after the end of the game.
Every time I begin a playthrough, I end up getting distracted and forgetting everything that happens. The furthest I've made it is a tiny bit into act 3. This time, I will finish the game fully through for sure.
ive been meaning to pick it back up, act 1 alone is crazy. i got to the underdark and realized that all that map clearing i did on the surface was like half of everything 😭
One thing I did not expect about BG3 is how amazing the good path for the Dark Urge is. I avoided Dark Urge for the longest time because I thought it was just going to be full on evil, but it's not and you still get to customize your character. Also, there is a lot of differences story wise.
If you do decide to do it, there is a secret to saving a character early on that I would highly recommend you look up if you are interested. I'm not going to spoil anything, but I will say there is a death that seems unavoidable but you can if you want. Save often, of course.
i took a swing at DOS2 years ago but couldn’t get into it because i essentially Had Not Yet Figured Out How To Play CRPGs. now i want to go back to it!
:3 do it, I still need to finish it too, I stopped at act 3 and then definitive edition upgrade came out and I restarted and never been back to act 3 again haha, I also love the pathfinder games, and I’m going through rouge trader now too, crpgs are so addicting
Ashamed to admit that I've got like almost 200 hours in and I haven't finished a full campaign bc there's just so much to do and I keep making new characters😔
mods really unlock this game, i love it. i highly recommend the one that lets you cast Speak To Animals at will, so much good dialogue tucked away there!!

GF how are you still alive
Me: PLOT ARMOR!!!
GAME even your patron thinks this is a bad idea
ME what? Oh, yeah. I'M her patron. Mr new gamer scum saving over here. (Guiltlessly looks up what that button does)
She can tell Karlach where to drop a pre fight barrel b/c she saw her friend die 3 times without it.
Broke her heart learning what happened to a kid in the grove she remembers meeting but now never met.

Still ain’t beat it yet. 🤣
The thought put in is just unparalleled.
Love speaking to the dead, also.
