The Timbuktu one especially because it hammers home the idea of Africa as a place of learning and scholarship. A place not just of oral tradition of written manuscripts...

This is very good! I admit I’ve spent more time reeling this week than planning. So I love your idea of fully leaning into Black History Month in our library. We do a new display each month, but this one needs to POP!!! And we are out in May, so I’ll include the Tuskegee Airmen and Juneteenth!

Black people weren't "allowed" to create just about anything we've done and we did it anyway. LGBTQ people weren't "Allowed" pride. They did it anyway. Those things aren't "allowed" by the powerful they're taken. When inferiority is what oppressors want celebration and pride become part of resisting
