Sounds very much like the rule by executive order seen south of the border.

Judges are there for very good reasons, largely so people and politicians don't take the law in their own hands.

Punishment over rehabilitation is a core principle of conservatism. That, of course, isn't necessarily wrong, but in the cases "the weasel" mentioned the Supreme Court ruled against the government on constitutional bases. I'm gonna go with the Justices on that! 😀

/2 Eliminating parole eligibility defeats that purpose. These criminals are very unlikely 2b paroled, & our recivadism rates r very low.
Politicians must NEVER control the courts, it's what fascists do; just look @ the US 2C why.

Yes, but based on a Harper law that tied their hands. The law was overturned by the Supreme Court. The sentences in & of themselves weren't exactly reduced, just the parole eligibility. Bernardo is eligible 2, but he's still behind bars. Incarceration's purpose is meant to be rehabilitation./1
