Ooh, new Garbage album coming May 30! It's called Let All That We Imagine Be The Light, and it has an octopus/jellyfish thing on the cover. Do you have any idea how much octopuses imagining light ties into the backstory of Splatoon?

Splatoon story tutorial: Centuries ago, humans destroyed the environment via war and just being humans. To escape rising sea levels, they went underground. Human scientists tried to figure out a way to return to the surface, and a key part of this was crystals present in octopuses and squids...
...But their plans went wrong, and humans went extinct. The crystals were embedded with the desire to return to the surface, and as mollusks evolved, so too did this desire. Eventually, octopuses and squids went to war over it, and squids won...
...Squids (Inklings) returned to the surface and restarted civilization, while octopuses (Octolings) were forced to stay underground. The Octolings made an elaborate LCD display that imitated the sky, but they still wanted the real thing. So they raised the Octarian army to retake the surface...
...After a few secret battles (the single-player story modes of Splatoon 1 and 2), Octolings were finally broken free of their military brainwashing (The Octo Expansion), and peacefully rejoined the surface civilization. As of Splatoon 3, Inklings and Octolings live together in peace...
...Based on the results of Splatoon 3's Grand Festival, the theme of Splatoon 4 seems like it will be "Past." Maybe we'll get to see more of this history? Anyway, new Garbage album, yay!
