as someone who has finished the game (no spoilers) id do act 3 sooner rather than later, maybe level up a bit after act 2 but not much because it feels like its intended you do it straight after, i did it after doing the late game side stuff and could pretty much 2 tap some enemies just by shooting.
Imo in order to be able to finish the game one must at least dodge a little. It's easier than parrying and you will become better at it with time.
Parry is the same timing as a perfect dodging so if you are managing 100% perfect dodges in a fight you can try to parry.
Good luck !
If they're gonna OHKO me, I just want to pause in the middle of the enemy turn and load a save. Like the party is already dead by this point, we're just catching up and all that.
Right? There are many enemies with that issue. At the end of act 2 there's an enemy with a delay of about 2-seconds between attacks which feels so odd. I read that playing in easy makes the parry windows much nicer but I haven't tried
its quiet but very audible, if you listen when an attack is coming you should be able to pick out a sound effect just before the attack connects, nearly every attack has one
I've found there's a "zip" sound during attacks and if you parry on/slightly after that it's way more consistent for me than going off animations, but sometimes it's just too damn fast 😅
Is parrying mandatory? I hate parrying which is why I'll never enjoy Sekiro (and the lack of ranged fighting style). I've been meaning to try expedition 33
Not your fault. Some of the enemies have dark souls 2 style wind ups which take forever but hit fast. A lot of the enemies are rhythmic with their attacks like the mimes.
They could really tune the animations and parry timings. Just a minor gripe though with an overall good game.
yeah!! i would gladly take a faster windup with a slower animation. that way it feels like you're interacting with them rather than just memorising timings
parrying is a tighter window than dodging ><
the game suggests you dodge while you learn the patterns of the enemies
(after playing through 80% of the game i swapped to story so its a little easier window for both haha)
Parrying is really satisfying and can help alot !
Their parry / dodge mechanic is frustrating enough that I dropped the difficulty down to Storymode. Which was still harder than it had any right to be.
I ignore parrying on all games, i'd rather fight long range or just tank the hits while trying to dodge. Not sure if I can play like that on Ex33, since my hardware can't run it and my internet is crap
Parry dodge mechanic as it becomes mandatory I late game made me quite the game altogether. I totally don't think Devs know what a story mode difficulty should look like.
Comments
why waste time doing that when you can kill the enemy and get it over with
I actually won scarlet and violet by just making all my Pokemon have good stats in defense and attack 🤑
This is Expedition 33. Completely different.
also realising that some attacks can not really be parried.
(also story mode difficulty; ain’t got time for the grind lol)

(Says me, who forgets to wear mine.)
but it feels bad to miss the parry lmao

or be like me and never dodge in the entire game even though it probably would have helped a lot and made me less mad
