Hack the software. Ditch intellectual property laws and anti-right to repair & modify laws the USA forced on the world. In fact, figure out how to infect any hostile military's equipment. And do it.
Dassault Aviation builds fighter jets and they are very concerned about their corporate jet service centre in the USA.
Buy their jets on the condition they start moving the service centre to Canada.
Macron and France are extremely pissed off at the USA right now.
It is a no brainer move.
Saab offer included using Canadian companies for some tech.
Canceling and moving to Saab would be an okay expense given the issues from president & Musk.
So you are suggesting that they move the service center here? Where are the planes being built? I would prefer that we go with Saab who have proposed building the planes here. 6000 jobs is more of a no brainer.
The Saab offer is 6000 jobs over a 40 year time period, not 6000 jobs all at once.
The Saab would be good choice though.
Dassault made a similar offer during the first round of bidding when the Saab wasn't even considered.

Mark Carney has said that he does not want to spend our defense dollars in the US. The more we spend at home the better for us. We are probably going to an election in April so I am sure that we will find out more soon.
Some us have been saying this since harper first agreed to buy them.
Buying any electronic equipment, especially military, from the USA is just plain stupid.
Funny I just posted my concern about that last night in another thread, good example is Swasticars, Elon has full access to everything you do in them and can remotely access all systems, why would F-35 be any different.
If we can get closer ties with Europe, I think there will be Canadian jobs regardless. They are planning on arming up quickly. Canadian industrial capacity and raw materials will speed that up, for us as well.
Steel as well. And unfortunately, it looks like we will soon have excess manufacturing capacity. This will take a massive government effort to coordinate it. Hopefully they are up to the challenge.
Wonder what Retired, pro-Trump, far right, General Hillier has to say now? He was the one that realigned the CF to be the US northern command. @thomasjuneau.bsky.social @stephaniecarvin.bsky.social
There was a whole group of computer geniuses let go (muskrat dumped them like trash) from the US Government.... Mark Cuban offered to set them up with their own tech company....bet some would be willing to leave the US to live in Canada and work for you.
Yup, it’s super weird that everybody here is going on about the Rafale when the Gripen was the other choice.
Sweden’s NATO now, so that would be another point for the Gripen in allied interoperability. Their ability to operate off of smaller runways looks increasingly relevant now also.
We need to look elsewhere for suppliers and partners. The Russian-supported Americans cannot be trusted. The assumptions that led us to F-35s and AEGIS no longer hold.
Yes we do, and fast. And it has to include satellite launch capability right here in Canada, submarine and aerial drones, cyber defense and offense, & a foreign intelligence gathering capability. Plus new alliances around the world. We need to gear up for the next war, not the last one.
The F35 contract needs to be immediately cancelled. We should look to our allies for replacements, possibly from multiple sources for expediency, while we work to rebuild and scale up our own domestic capacity to ensure we are not put in this compromising position again of relying too much on anyone
We should have ordered the Swedish jets from the beginning. But you know “NATO compatibility” & all that. All of us were conned into buying f-35s. Almost all military procurements NATO countries come from the USA. And 👀look, the U.S. just digitally blocked radar intelligence from HIMARS in Ukraine.
Trump doesn't understand that NATO procurement is a huge subsidy to the US military industry. At all, he is that dumb. The SAAB jets are compliant, let's buy them and cancel
However can you imagine the blowback from PP and the entire planet if we cancelled a kabillion dollar contract after decades of conservative governments failure to procure?! And just think of the cancellation fee? And the loss of time once again, decades behind. I’d hate to see Minister Anand
be raked over the coals for something Trump caused. We are so fucked. However I think we are at risk and should buy the damn Swedish ones. I bet they will be delivered on time too, unlike anything coming from the USA

No one in Defence should be still thinking of this purchase…
Bring back the Arrow. 😉

Dassault already uses parts made in Canada for their Rafale.

I knew of other issues but this? This!
Unreal.
Did no one dare express concern that this could be an issue, worried at putting off our “friends”?
Any Canadian military folks who don’t recognize this risk, shouldn’t be leading the military
