This not only limits access from other slicers. Accessories such as the Panda Touch are also affected. Octo Everywhere will probably no longer work either.

This does seem very sus and unfriendly. Many people who aren't paying attention are going to get bit after this update. I guess this is the end of getting bambu updates for me. Time to start looking into hacking an open firmware onto this thing and/or some kind of open mainboard replacement.

If your printer is online, "could" bambu force the update onto machines would be my question. We already see it on other tech devices.

The one reason why I bought the mk4s over their printer was because I don't trust them. This isn't exclusive to china, we all need to have more control of our data.

I'm not sure if it could be forced, that would be beyond my direct and immediate understanding of their level of control, however, it's not something that they seem to be implementing NOW.

All right, I’ll put a sticky note on the screen to remind myself every time I turn it on do not update. We need a core 1 XL soon or something similar. My business is built upon selling stuff that needs a modern sized bed. And does good multicolor.

Yes, but it’s a little bit out of my price range right now. The XL is an upgrade to bambu not a competitor. To get the same amount of colors, it’s like $4500. If they would’ve given 30 more millimeters to the core one on the 220 mm one that it would’ve been a true competitor to the P1 & X1 series

There's no good reason to be collecting the level of data they are collecting. They do not need photos from your machine even when it's not printing...

That's where 3D printing goes, more and more proprietary. They all do that now and it's the future. And they all massively collecting data too (I agree Bambu seems to be the king but still).
