Dan Boulton, CEO, previously ran Sealordβs production, so a real expert at bending the env protection rules.
Also, Luxon govt pursuing env crime - LOL. Yeah.
Using Google Earth, the satellite imagery can be dated to 24th October 2023.
In this image, visible discolouration of surface water along the coast, identifiable as waste discharge from the coastal pipe near Silver Ferns Farms in Pareora, extends along the coast for approximately 2.5 km
The most intense section of dischare in the image on 24/10/2023 (or in Google-speak, 23/20/24 ... ugh.), is of course shorter at around 0.5km.
A similar outflow is seen in a less clear image dated 03/04/2019, while little-to-none is observable in images of 09/03/2023, 13/11/2020 and 15/08/2020
The worst (most impressive) image seems to be from 30/04/2013; visible discolouration appears to travel approx 3.2km along the coast before fully mixing in with the sea currents.
It's clear these discharges aren't happening every day, but they have evidently happened frequently for a long time.
I lived down there in Pareora in the early 80βsβ¦it was happening back then (on a larger scale), I canβt believe itβs still happening in 2025 π€·π»
I don't know if they're still doing it, but Taylor Preston have been doing the same into Wellington Harbour for as long as their Ngauranga abattoir has been in operation.

Fine those fuckers up the wazoo!! π€¬

I remember the abattoir in Oamaru doing the same.
But thought the process went the way of the dodo decades ago....
Silver Fern Farms off the shopping list and a note to their management.
