Me at Crooked Timber about how our leaders' fear that we might be "left behind" on the road to growth redefines the very nature of progress away from the vision of a functioning and humane society

You note that Universal Scandinavia is not an ideal limited to the left (and not all the left either). How does the idea of heading towards this ideal compare to Kojeve’s (and Fukuyama’s post-Wall inherited) claim that we are moving towards a Hegelian ideal of the universal homogeneous state?
A relation in the form of some kind of political telos? I wonder when what you represent as the Universal appeared as a possible 'End' - and how long that lasted? Post-War reconstruction and Post-Wall hope will have given it speed. But, for reasons you spell out, it could not long survive.
