I think the secret solution to the "too many tournaments!!" thing is try to persuade eager new TOs to help with LANs instead of online if they can. Hosting things in real life seems more intimidating at first and could probably be demystified a little - ThreadSky

I'm also not sure what size some of these events are, but if they are run by only a few people each collaborating to increase the quality of it could be a good solution as well, more people TOing is a good thing imo.

With LANs, this is counterproductive. The “too many cooks in the kitchen” problem for a LAN becomes much more exponential compared to an online event because of data sensitivity, and having to involve more people for any decisions for the event.

Hard disagree. That may be the case for big Kalahari kind of stuff, but most LANs now are smaller, newer deals. I know especially in the UK we've lost a lot of veteran TOs recently and could really do with more. Besides, there's a lot of stuff that doesn't deal with sensitive data - seeding,

promotion, production, finding people who can donate their docks for the day, moving tables and monitors around in the morning and packing up at night. Grassroots needs people!!

I don't think I've ever been to any kind of IRL event for anything that wouldn't have benefitted from one more person running around making sure things are working, I'm sure LANs are no different

Wait I misread is this about LANs or online. Online tournaments I think need production more than they need TOs rn but TOing is easier to get into atm. Only really big things need more people but the problem is they also tend to want trusted staff

IMO online has a problem right now where there aren't many places to train up because most tournaments become harder to run when you have more than 2 staff for anything that doesn't have a stream, more staff means more to keep track of after a point. A lot of TOs I know prefer to do it solo
