So many of these clowns *with power and influence*—politicians, media figures—act like they can do nothing to *shape* popular opinion, like they're just helpless trend chasers who can't make a case for anything on its merits or even tell the plain truth. It'd be laughable if it weren't so dangerous.

I heard an interview w a pundit where they fretted that rep Al Green's protest polled as "divisive" and do they not know history even a little? The right thing usually IS broadly unpopular to start. It's up to leaders to widen the Overton window.
