The question it should prompt is whether it's ethical for journalists to hide that fact that they are hedging their coverage of Trump because they or their billionaire owner fear retribution.
But, of course, that isn't in the legacy media's interest to disclose.

🧵 Joe and Mika's journey to Mar-a-Lago prompted a question that many members of the media are quietly asking: Just how worried should we be?
More specifically, and practically, what preparations and precautions should news outlets take ahead of Trump's return to power? Here are some answers >>>

Their privilege is exponentially more important to them than our lives or our freedom etc.
Corp. Media works for the empire and its ruling class regardless of the name of the temporary king.
I cld commit to a limited news source if the guarantee is the truth(even when I don’t want to hear it).
If they allow him to actually act on his revenge fantasies, MSM are high on the list for first to be held up as examples. They’re in the spotlight and well known.
Perfect persuasion to get others in line
I’m sorry, but I don’t have much sympathy.
I realize that competition is tough and profits have to be made, but they put America at risk while pursuing the almighty buck.
The 4th estate lost its way.
But not a presidential candidate.
Do you agree with banning Pharma direct-to-consumer ads?
There has never been objective reporting on trump. Never.

Is that too much? Perhaps.
Prior to Citizens United, the press was indeed "free."
The Fourth Estate has imploded.
We need media reform.
Just as all of us are!
For the corporate MSM in America to be talking like they’ve sacrificed anything is laughable.
Grow a fucking spine.
Dead giveaway they're not professionals
Neither of them are journalists.
They're infotainers.
Ethics in journalism?
It’s 2024, Marc.
Ethics aren’t helping anyone.
Call out the cowards.
This is bar fight.
They are complicit and are only interested in the mighty $$. Time to take away the attention that provides them their income.
When Trump does attack and threaten a reporter or publication. They must vow to defend each other and attack the President for attacks on a free press.
Real journalists, historically, have carried a 🎯 on their backs. The LAST thing we need is reporting based on fear of retribution. If they can’t say they stand by their truth, they should get out.
Idk
But I watched them most mornings,,stopped for awhile after POTUS's debate with orange man.

The FAFO stage is a real fear. Let’s just say the 1930s vibes are starting to feel a little too familiar.
just maybe,
if they had held closer to journalistic ethics over the past 8 years this would be a moot argument for classes to debate in the hypothetical
Everyone called into service over the last 250 years had to be willing to put their careers - and lives - at risk to do what was right for America. Now, journalists won't even buck their bosses.
Just like cops who "fear for their lives" and shoot unarmed black men.
Unfit for the job.
