Thai arrived in London as 1-2 cafes, they bought existing greasy spoons and did a morning/lunchtime fry-up and then switched to Thai food for the evening trade (which the cafe traditionally was shut for)
So this was 80s London - pub grub arrived about then too and I think they just jumped over...
That makes sense. There was a Thai greasy spoon/cafe where I used to live in Chiswick where I was once the last customer out at night and the first one in the next morning.
I'd love to find this pub. Most the ones in suburban London/nearly all in Central London are lager, lager, lager, lager, IPA, IPA, Guinness. What I'd give for a selection of stouts and bitters!
