I think a lot of people overestimate backend, reliability, security and scaling considerations. To the extent that consultant or internal custom generation (rather than SaaS) is used for software that is an internal and not customer facing tool, then that stuff matters less.
I think it happens temporarily, then there'll be a period of folks realizing they don't want to or don't know how to maintain their own shit in the long run
yup - this tracks with my own views on this stuff when evaluating early stage LLM-centric companies trying to justify nuts valuations on the wrong assumption that their product will scale.
As long as there are large enterprises that rely on tech to run their business, there will be a need for quality software to support those enterprises. Can McSoftware deliver that? Maybe
100% this imo. i’m not sure if this meaningfully erodes your salesforces or servicenows medium-term but it probably cuts a bloody swathe through midmarket business SaaS
