Okay new Bluers: what's your favorite *genus*? For me, w/ apologies to Castor, it's gotta be Oncorhynchus. The breadth of speciation, the diversity of life histories, the physical beauty, the keystone ecological function, the centrality to our own history—just the most wondrous organisms. Your turn!

I'm going with Pantherophis. They're just beautiful creatures, living their non-venomous lives, efficiently constricting vermin.

Trout book next!!
You also got me thinking - is there any other single species with the life history diversity of O. mykiss? Anadromous, fluvial, resident, semelparous, iteroparous, they've basically got it all
Only contender I can think of is Arctic char, aka "the most diverse vertebrate"!

Anguilla! They're very cool looking plus I love the mystery of still not fully understanding their breeding and I like that this strange and a little bit scary species is common in very populated East Coast streams without most people having any idea. Doesn't hurt that A. japonica is delicious
Great choice!
Partial as I am to Gymnogyps, you gotta have some variety, so I’m going with Rana.
And while I lean towards critters over plants, I must say that both Quercus and Pinus are appealing!
Heterodon, the North American Hog-nosed Snakes.
