I’m lucky. My mom and step-dad are dead, and it’s unlikely anyone in my family will come here to visit. My patience is only tested online and with the occasional Salazar-supporting-fascist and/or monarchist here, or the very rare Trump supporting US tourist.

I don’t know how either of you do it. I’m not American, have no American family. I have friends there, and they’re our next door neighbour, and I’m still perpetually outraged.

Best I can do is encourage my staff to try to manage and focus in the healthiest ways they can.

It fucking sucks. But every time I think about getting out just to not have to deal with it anymore I think of the people that are in verses that come well before mine in certain poetry that can't leave and how I'll never be able to live with myself if I am not here to help get them through it.

I’ve had friends who were mad that we left. They made us feel guilty for “abandoning” the people in the states. I can do just as much from here as I could have from there though, with the noted exception of in-person protests
