The conditions to be accepted as a donor are very tight. Most people sign up and are only matched years later and things can change with the health of the donor. There’s also an impact on the donor in post-op so they may not be able to accommodate that (imagine they’re caring for a dementia parent)

I was contacted once for a possible donation, and the person interviewing me flagged that I had back issues. She said that might disqualify me from a marrow donation but not from a stem cell donation, which is 80% of donations.

I've just registered and paid for my swab. I was happy to find out I'm eligible because I thought I was too fat but when I calculated my BMI it turns out I'm not as fat as I thought I was! Small victories!

Sadly, I’m too old. I also had cancer so am banned from donating blood so I think they would reject me anyway. I’ll pass this on to my followers. Hopefully, someone will be a match.

Thought I may be able to register but nope, Crohn's disease is on the rejection list. Very annoying as I can't give blood for the same reason (transfusion in 90s).

I am too old! I often wonder why we are age-barred (are my stem cells past their sell by date?) when, by definition, my generation are more likely to have the time to help. Empty Nesters, Some retired.

Having had melanoma about 10 years ago with no (known) recurrence I don't qualify to donate as anyone who has had cancer can't register. Please consider. I would if I could.
