This should worry us all. Reform UK's new Treasurer has revealed he spoke to Elon Musk this morning following suggestions the tech tycoon could make a multi-million-pound donation to Nigel Farage's party

His followers are lacking cogent thinking. Anyone with half a brain should realise that Nige is only in the game to enrich himself and inflate his already voluminous ego.
Even the AmeriKKKans are now calling him "an eccentric UK politico basking in the reflected glory of Trump"
This is no joke and it shouldn't be allowed.
How come a South African billionaire gets to buy our democracy? UK Parliament should make a note. This is not going to end well...
Same way he bought America's, although is either the UK or America a democracy. Both countries are manipulated by very wealthy people, the voters fed a constant diet of disinformation to make sure that they'll vote for their own worst interest?
This can't be stressed enough, political entryism by way of transaction needs to be banned into oblivion, allowing oligarchs anywhere near power is what will be the end of this country. Reform have no right to just waltz on in with a bunch of toffs and play about with our rights.
Yes. But we need to realize that Leon doesn't give a fuck about our fucks. None of these billionaires do. They can bring the world to heel anytime they want. They know it and we need to realize it.
Any interview should ask what their policies are. to Farage "you want to limit abortions and cut taxes for rich people, yes?" You campaigned for Brexit, do you think it's been good for Britain?" - To Candy - how many offshore trusts do you have? ect. These aren't politicions they are anti UK actors.
This is why (well, one reason why) far right populism / extremism is a juggernaut: the same powerful people view it as a global entity/movement where every single nation is vital, & play the long game. Liberal ideologues need to do exactly the same. Take a global team approach.
It's been going on for years; previously, the Tories were the recipients. Hopefully Labour is quietly plugging the loopholes. Reform is becoming the place for disaffected ex Tory MPs, billionaires & millionaires. So much for being the party (private company) of the people!!
Ah Nick Candy of illegal Jingle and Mingle party during lockdown fame, also big fan of the sexual predator-elect DJT also married to an immigrant yet complains about asylum seekers
What is needed is a complete overhaul of how all Political Parties are funded. How can foreign or any other donations not have an influence on the recipient Party? Surely the easiest solution is to cap such 'gifts'.
It's no secret that Reform UK will spend as much foreign capital as legally possible on advertising and promotion. The only way to address their threat is for Labour to address any yawning gaps in legislation whilst delivering a better standard of living for the majority.
Agree. The problem is, Reform isn't even a political party, it's a company. But added legislation on businesses running as political parties might help.
...selling the post of Company Treasurer to the highest bidder - in exhange for a large "donation" - which isn't a donation as Reform UK is not a political party - it's Farage's own company.
No accountability to people buying "memberships" either.
The Conservatives took millions individually and collectively from Russian Oligarchs. It's nothing new only the scale of it will increase if this government doesn't do anything to stop it.
#Farage pulling a fast one by bringing in the #Candyman before they make it too difficult for #Musk to donate. Lest we forget, wasn't Candy one of those who partied in No.10 while we obeyed the rules.🤔
Reminds me of how the German industrialists funded the rise of Hitler in the 1930s. We must beware of a repeat as Farage is an existential threat to the UK.
I don’t think so. I lost my winter fuel allowance and accepted it. ( I’m not an affluent pensioner) Labour must regulate party donations & foreign political influence, tighten election rules and prosecute disinformation.
I also lost my WFA and had to accept it and I agree with regulating donations, etc. but removing the WFA from pensioners was not a smart move! Whilst a few are well-off, many who do not qualify for PC are, nevertheless, on much less than the minimum wage.
Ok put another way, a real estate billionaire hasn’t decided to become Farages treasurer for nothing.
He’s been promised or knows something we don’t yet.
I said it in a previous post, Starmer MUST implement far reaching checks and balances that rigorously investigate ALL political donations, both foreign and domestic, but especially foreign. Even if it could potentially impact adversely on Labour there can be no place in UK politics for this subversion
Or just ban all private political funding over £0.
In any true #Democracy, politicians & political campaigns should be funded entirely by the *demos*, i.e. by the Treasury.
If multinational plutocrats can openly invest in undermining a democracy and destroying a country, why can't GoFundMe run accounts for political assassinations?

Control freak - or simply narcissist?
