Why do people have to own their home? Why is renting not safe and secure? In the past local councils owned and managed the properties where people lived. They weren’t perfect but they were comfortable and well maintained at a decent rent. Thatcher brought in right to buy - s**t for society as ever

For millions of people on low/minimum wages, even so-called "affordable" properties will forever be out of reach. What we really need is more social/council housing - but nobody's going to make a profit out of that so it won't happen..... 😢

KS wants to give builders freedom to build. They build for profit not need. This won’t resolve the housing crisis we need a lot of social housing. KS knows this but it’s about corporation profit as always.

Let’s face it, house prices will not be coming down. Labour and materials costs rise, s.106 commitments eat into developers’ profits so are shelved/cut back and now percentage of “affordable” (for whom?) houses is not binding - not that it ever was.

Then let their good rental records be used as a basis for granting 0 % interest mortgages. There are couples who are now parents and in their late 30s, who have consistently paid their rent on time for over 10 years or more. But wouldn't be considered for a mortgage if they don't have a deposit.

That's not true people like my son will not get a home they can afford in London basic flats in tower blocks are 500,000.
They will not risk a housing bubble like the early 90s which meant I could and they will not reform leasehold either.
