That's Erasmus, and there are ways to fix the balance of incoming vs outgoing.
But youth mobility has no impact on universities and Labour should get on with it.

No it’s not. There was a clause in the YM deal offered to the Tories & reoffered to Labour that required EU students to be charged home fees.
That’s not currently feasible due to the near bankruptcy of many universities.

Agreed: universities don't want EU students paying UK domestic fees.
I thought the fix was in on that with a 2 year mobility visa, the main aim being to get young people working in the UK, not studying.

Erasmus and Youth Mobility Scheme are two initiatives where everyone wins - UK, EU, Young People, Education and Skills.

Yes the Mail will portray it as open borders and back door rejoining but theres a strong positive narrative available as well as good policy
