it’s a bad defense, that’s not how it will be mainly used and also it will destroy all learning opportunities for learning English, I’ve already seen people who aren’t confident defer to AI for emails

LLMs are so unreliable for these tasks. We've been duped into forgiving them when they fuck up because the products are advertised as 'experimental' and because we're so amazed when they happen to do it right. But they're always going to fuck up.

The last time I used an LLM for the task of improving some phrasing I'd used for a specific purpose, I found it genuinely useful because it could quickly generate different ways for me to articulate something for me to choose between. But half the time, its suggestions changed the meaning.
