I think the team cares because it was literally the only fight Reaves has had... They think the fans should appreciate that more than it really requires maybe?

Right this is the thing. I have absolutely no issue with players saying "I loved the fight. I think Reaves is really underappreciated." Why are you making this about the fans in a game where you got stomped??

I also wonder how much of a social media bubble they live in at this point.

I would guess they have blocked a lot of negative accounts, and likely just don't get direct feedback that tells them not to say stupid things like this.

I sort of think it’s fine for Matthews and Marner to call out the crowd a bit. It was noticeable on the broadcast how quiet the building was. Making it about this staged fight is kind of silly, but also they are first in the division and I get why the mild crowd is frustrating.

Sure but they aren’t in any other division. And that’s sort of my point - they’re having a very good season but most of the discourse around them feels negative. I get why fans feel that way, and I think skepticism about their ceiling is warranted, but I also get why the players are annoyed.

They are having a good season.vthey aren't having a better season than last year. And last year ended in heartbreak. I don't think these guys are in a great position to complain about how loud the fans are cheering, generally speaking. But certainly not for a staged fight followed by a 5-1 loss.

Like go ahead and stick up for Reaves. Say he's a great guy and his contributions are felt in the room. Fans don't want to hear that they aren't cheering loud enough for your team who was so jacked up from a meaningless first minute fight that they were inspired to lose the game badly.
