Man, Kal-El had a pretty sweet family back on Krypton, they were like, "I will send them you, my only son. And also his teenaged cousin, to look after him. And his pet dog."

Not your fault, schools are underfunded, but I think it's important to say that Streaky was a normal cat who messed with Kryptonite X and Comet was a centaur who was turned into a full horse by a witch who felt bad and gave him super powers.
We, his loving parents, couldn't possibly go! Hopefully the floating interdimensional prison housing our worst criminals will never find its way to him! May Rao protect him!
"And we will put our family's greatest enemy, and that enemy's hench people, in a protected prison dimension, so Kal may regularly give them the gift of These Hands."
In the old comics Superman fought all sorts of Kryptonian people and animals. We used to joke that Joe-El and Lara were the only people who stayed on the planet. :-)
Must have sucked to be the parents of Kal-El's second cousin.
"Oh thank God, you're building three ships. We were so worried about our little... why are you putting a squeaky bone in there?"
I never could figure out that, if Brainiac was supposed to preserve all things Kryptonian, why was he constantly trying kill Superman, instead of protecting him ???
