In nature, a rich rhizosphere provided active N to plants and stores the most carbon. The rhizosphere does not develop when we add too much N fertilizer, be it synesthetic or poop. Wildlife poops more than enough. Best to free up land for real rewilding aka less cow and keep the rest organic.

2) It has long been conventional wisdom that Soil Carbon reaches a saturation point, after which no further Carbon can be sequestered due to limitations in the amount of mineral binding sites (this figure from Guillaume et al, 2022):

3) This study conducted field trials in Germany over many years. They continually added more and more organic matter (manure in this case) to extreme levels and tested soil carbon levels. They found a LINEAR relationship between added organic matter and soil carbon levels.

4) To be sure, the authors do offer up a number of caveats about broader applicability of the study (below), but their main conclusion is that Soil Carbon uptake is NOT limited by soil properties, but rather by the availability (and undesirability) of adding organic matter.
