Was 1.6 C last year, and they should know this, unless it is now US policy to lie, downplay the temp increase, which would not surprise me. So far this year, we are at 1.67C above IPCC baseline.

2023 did see 1.5C, then 2024, 1.6, and this year (so far) 1.67......this use of so called average temp increase is leading people to falsely believe there is a chance that we can "hover" around 1.5, then perhaps stay below 2C. Do think we are on route to 3.2C increase, which could be best outcome.

As for this year, with ENSO neutral arriving soon, then El Nino following, real question is what if 2025 finishes at 1.7, or 1.8 above? And I am also sticking with IPCC baseline, which we all should be doing!

I never look at one year, and I would never look at just one study. For the past 40 years, would prefer longitudinal studies, also continue to learn from a variety of sources, and spend much time thinking about anything that is seen, read about, or heard. Will bet 100 rupees we reach at least 1.7C!
