I don't know, I honestly think it's really well-made, there's a lot of craft there, it's just devoted to, y'know, Freddy Got Fingered. But I do love it as the parody of SNL-type movies, after SNL-type movies had devolved into A Night at the Roxbury or The Ladies Man. (Tim Meadows deserved better)
Watched Ishtar last night for the first time after hearing about what a bomb it was for decades... It's a delightful farce with several winning performances. It was never going to make $100M, but great fun nonetheless.
ishtar is genuinely a fucking fun little time and was sandbagged by contemporary critics primarily for studio politics reasons and otherwise for low blood-irony levels
