I agree with that, but also there are Christians and followers of other Abrahamic religions who choose to interpret their religion and holy books in such a way that they love and accept all others. And while I am an atheist, I support all people who choose love and acceptance. - ThreadSky

Beliefs in religions are kind of like a Rorschach test.

If you see it as an excuse to be a horrible person? Well, maybe you’re a horrible person.

But if you see it as a reason to treat everyone with love and respect? I’m not gonna hate on that.

I applaud them for making the best of a bad situation, of course. It’s a good first step. My problem is that some of that flock use the love stuff to deny the horrible aspects of that god. Or when they insist on omni-benevolence while not taking in the clear indications to the contrary.

If any gods existed I might be more concerned about that.

But having in an imaginary friend that you believe tells you to be kind and loving to everyone is okay with me, even if the imaginary friend book has a lot of examples of the imaginary friend being a genocidal manic.

A true silver lining. I get a cosmic horror feeling when I try to imagine what our world was actually in line with any of the 3 Abrahamics in a biblically inerrant, everything is true method would actually look like. For the Christians that’s untold billions of innocents burning for eternity.
