Finished reading yesterday the Romanian novel "Padurea Spanzuratilor" (Forest of the Hanged) by Liviu Rebreanu written in 1922.
While it does have typical Romanian-isms, they don't detract from the story, which is splendid. Apostol Bologa is a fantastic & compelling protagonist.
