One of the most common American mindsets, and especially common amongst tech bros and capitalists, is "what I believe = apolitical, what other people believe = political". Just zero introspection or possibility for growth.

People have a problem realizing that just because the end results of something are apolitical, doesn’t mean it wasn’t built on prejudicial systems.
It’s the same thing for housing, realtors aren’t being actively racist (usually) but decades of redlining have so irrevocably fucked real estate.

This is a perfect example, Amazon’s hiring algorithm was freezing women out of software jobs because they only trained it on the resumés of their existing mostly-male engineering staff.
