Rejecting “take a beating until the public agrees with you” for “kill anyone who tries to kill you” is swapping non-strategic tactics & not understanding how either non-violence or violence effect political change

okay yeah that's what i thought. my primary goal was illustrating that even if you're all-in on violence as an eventuality, if you're still assuming that you'll be acting in self-defense, you on some level agree that 'who hits first' IS actually an important strategic consideration
...so not the whole enchilada, i guess. maybe just the cheese. but yeah, "strategic" is an extremely important modifier for both violence and nonviolence.
