You should read about US electoral system, how it works, how winners are decided and what it means winning elections. Public polls, popular votes, etc... Are all irrelevant until 2028... If you're lucky to have elections then.
Thanks for being condescending but I understand the electoral college. I was refuting your claim that a bunch of Americans just want Canada to be a state. I wouldn’t even say most of the people that voted for him want that. That’s a gross oversimplification.
Their wants follow Trump’s mouth. He says it and they suddenly want it, no matter what it is or if it’s something that has previously ever even entered their mind.
By the numbers only barely, and even most of them are a little confused as to what the hell is going on. This entire thing is batshit crazy. I feel like I'm in the Twilight zone watching this discussion take place.
No. It's the stonking majority of electoral college votes that he got. That's *your* system of elections. Popular vote is irrelevant. Trump has full control of all 3 branches of the US government. All thanks to US voters. It's not an opinion, just counting.
The case for making Canada a state? I think there is no case. He didn’t run on it as an issue. I think a lot of his supporters are isolationist/nationalist and don’t support this idea.
A lot of his supporters are either complete idiots and will do whatever he tells them to do, or are chancers who will do whatever he tells them if they can profit from it. Once Canada/Panama/Greenland are out there in the public, it's a go for all of them.
To be more precise, though, most Americans who voted in November didn’t vote for Trump. He only got 49.8 percent, so 50.2 percent voted Harris or Stein or some write-in.
PSA: popular vote is irrelevant. Trump has win "bigly" and has full control of all 3 branches of the government. The next elections may or, on current evidence, may not be in Nov 2028. Until then, God help us all.
Popular vote was relevant to the claim about “most voting Americans,” but I take your point. Trump has an unfortunate spread of control that does not bode well for the future of democracy as we know it.
The Heritage foundation finally has its repugnant “Mandate for Leadership.”
Thanks. 2m more voted for Trump in 2024. Compare that with 2020 and there's a clear trend. But also, 35% of voters didn't bother to vote at all in 2024. Some of them don't like what they see but most are either supporting or at best, indifferent. Which is possibly worse. It's bad.
Let me know how it goes when you're in the concentration camp, waiting to be sent to Mexico. Oh no... You won't have a phone and internet there. Jammer.
It's only your government planning to open them for people living in barrios. I know it's comforting blaming foreigners for failures of your own democracy. It's ok. It will pass.
Why I'm in Amsterdam? Chillin, smoking weed, enjoying the canals, health care and healthy food, excellent roads and safe schools, lots of greenery... All things you don't have in the US and, in your case soon, Mexico.
It's majority of those who vote and statistically, majority of those who don't vote. It's not the opinion, just counting. I know it hurts but it's the fact. Majority of US voters want Trump and everything that comes with it. His 1st term could be a fluke but the 2nd is on all of you.
As a Canadian, I don’t care what it stands for. Do you have any idea how Canadians vote? We’d ensure the White House and House of Representatives never saw Republican control again.
Trump had ~27% of the total adult population in votes. You'd call that most? Many of those people were also deeply misled and while I think they should face the consequences of their actions, I'm also a compassionate person
You need to read again how US electoral system works. Popular vote is irrelevant. Also, people who don't care to vote (more than 35% in 2024) are also complicit - meaning they don't care about what Trump and his Nazis are about to do with the US and the rest of the world.
Just because they didn’t care to put their shoes on or walk to the mailbox to vote, doesn’t automatically mean they don’t care what he does. That’s a stretch! Jesus.
Well, the point is they don't care what Trump will do. As for their reasons, we can only speculate. I like to focus on measurable. And the measurable part is that more than 35% of US voters didn't care to put their shoes on, as you say.
Stating the bleedin obvious but here we go: Public opinion polls are not elections.
Trump has full control over all 3 branches of the US government. Check the new MoD guy and what he stands for.
Considering this is a thread where someone said that "most" Americans want Trump, yes it's important to truly point out how few people actually want him. Even if you want to say that people who didn't vote are complicit, objectively they did not want him either

But I do think it might be yourself and four guys in Minnesota.
What if they got a 50$ amazon credit?
20ċ?
20c off? Those F350s don’t fuel themselves.
Come on, the average American would sacrifice their firstborn for 20c off at the pump. Canada doesn’t even rate.
what a shock.
The Heritage foundation finally has its repugnant “Mandate for Leadership.”
Americans: We don't.
You: Have fun in the camps lmao.
Why are you in Amsterdam?
Goose yourself.
The majority of Americans are not his supporters. The majority are apathetic. The remainder are split between pro-Trump and anti-Trump.
I thought we left "Manifest Destiny" back in the 1800s. Canada is an ally of the U.S.
