But the bigger question is... would Lando and Oscar have won the constructors in Red Bulls, with the McLaren strategy team? I'm thinking yes. I reckon Charles and Carlos too.
It took a hit the last couple of seasons with such a bad car… but seeing McLaren implode has made me think much more highly of Mercedes strategy eking points out race after race.
That’s also a strange argument.. so could Schumacher / Prost / Mansell / Senna ? Just saying - no one has ever done it so the fact he didn’t do it can hardly be held against him - rather makes the coming seasons more exciting
IMO the McLaren #1 spot had a shot but was always a long-ish shot even swapping people around.
It's always better to peak early in the year vs late due to early lead giving you more power wheel2wheel + confidence boost. Max in Norris' position wouldn't drive like Max already leading the WDC.
I would prefer to celebrate a vastly improved season by McLaren who will no doubt reflect and learn for the future; hopefully with the constructors title in their pocket as consolation
It’d definitely be closer. Honestly I don’t think McLaren even thought they had a chance until Zandvoort. And by that point they’d already given away too many points.

That said, I'm not a NOR fan, so some dodgy questionable driving antics would not have changed my views about him much.
