You're fighting the good fight, but it's a rough one. People want to look at cute pictures with a head-empty approach, and get defensive when someone makes them feel bad for contributing to normalizing harmful breeding or pet care, etc.

I just don't get it. I had cats. I loved them. I didn't want anything bad to happen to them, so they stayed indoors and lived long happy lives. Thrusting them outside because "it's their nature" is just BS.

Saw a video where a couple let their 2 cats outside for the first time (supervised they claimed) & now the cats have to be separated cuz they constantly try to maul each other due to displaced aggression.

Don't know if it's 100% facts but just another reason to keep them inside always.

I didn’t see any like overhanging netting so it looked like just a basic wooden fence which means they’re not doing anything to try to keep cats out or worried about the possibility of their cats getting out. Either way they didn’t do much to prevent the event that’s having to keep them seperate

I always say..if people had to treat pet cats like pet dogs...we wouldn't be here..

But parts of the US still don't require you keep your dogs in a fenced yard/on leash and they can just..have fun in the neighborhood.. so...cats will get to be extra bad..

Also, you can’t spot early signs of disease in outdoor cats because you can’t track their food and water intakes - which is often the one thing that allows early diagnosis of many, many conditions

So MUCH this. a big difference between 'I let my cat roll around in planters in my fenced patio while I drink a cup of coffee in the morning' and 'I let my cat out and it comes back at 7pm for food', you have NO idea what that animal did..I would be WORRIED each minute I couldn't see them.

My first cat was outdoor (family barn cat) and by the time we noticed anything was wrong half his organs were in shut down. Never recovered from how sudden and violent his death was.

I don’t understand that anyone would be willingly doing this with the proper knowledge at hand.

I have heard of some hobby farmers bringing thier working barn cats indoors cause they cant guarantee they wont infect thier chickens and vise versa. Until theres a vaccine or the outbreak gets out of control, they have to find another means of rodent control.

It's really good to see so many smaller businesses taking this seriously, had another friend link a group that promoted the one eyed yard cat who only hung out during the day while they did things on farm to 'CEO' and he gets to chill inside now, making a joke he gets to work from home.

You have to take it seriously even for indoor cats. We have a rule in our house now that outside shoes have to be stored away where the cats can't get them and we wear house shoes. There's three cats here and we aren't taking any chances cause it's so easy to step in bird poop unknowingly.

My cats are strictly indoor cats, there's just too many dangers around here for them flu or not. The only time they go outside is if they're in a crate going to the vet.
